Hope for the future that arts play a more prominent role in our lives
"A Proposal for the 21st Century: In order to insure a more complete and
imaginative society of enlightened individualism the arts must become more
central in our educational programs and our lives. One of the basic and useful activities that has distinguished our species is the act of drawing. Drawing and writing are two primary means to an imaginative life. And drawing like writing can be taught and learned as a basic form of expression. Making marks of representation and abstraction allows us another way of knowing about our world and its wonders...Any responsible educational progam must include ways in which visual formulations can affect and enhance our present verbal preoccupation and emphasis."
