Program: | Cultural Diversity Fieldbook Network Project | Contact(s): | 1-800-736-1293 | Purpose: | To publish essays for liberal and conservative authors on the issue of racial diversity | | The Cultural Diversity Fieldbook Network Project brings together leading thinkers and practitioners in the field of diversity from both liberal and conservative backgrounds. As a first step, it used this network to produce three different anthologies that would feature widely diverse opinions about diversity and its effectiveness. These anthologies provide information and tools for addressing issues across the political and social spectrum. Through the distribution of these anthologies, the project encourages reading to examine the different perspectives, established practices, and biases that exist concerning the importance of racial diversity. The project's Cultural Diversity Sourcebook received the outstanding book award of 1997 from the Gustavus Myers Center for the Study of Human Rights in North America. This award is offered annually for the best scholarship on the subject of intolerance in North America, and was officially announced on Human Rights Day, December 10, 1997. |
