Key issues for discussion include the President's budget for FY 2000,and the anticipated report from the President's Information Technology Advisory Committee (PITAC). The Committee will meet with Tom Kahn, of the House Budget Committee;Elgie Holstein, Associate Director of the Office of Management and Budget;Charles Larson of the Industrial Research Institute, Inc.; Al Teich ofthe American Association for the Advancement of Science; and Ken Kennedy of PITAC. The PCAST was established by President Clinton in 1993, and includesdistinguished individuals from industry, research institutions, and othernon-governmental organizations. Itis co-chaired by Neal Lane, Assistant to the President for Science andTechnology, and John Young, former President and CEO of Hewlett-PackardCompany. The Committee serves as the highest level private sectorgroup that advises the President on the Administration's science and technologybudgets and policies.
