President's Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology
To Meet on Thursday, February 17, 2000


The President's Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) will meet in an open plenary session on Thursday, February 17th at 1:00 PM in the Truman Room of the White House Conference Center.

Jack Lew, Director of the Office of Management and Budget, will describe the President's FY 2001 R&D budget, and Al Teich of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) will present an analysis of the budget.

Next, a panel of agency and university representative will focus on the S&T workforce needs of the 21st century.  The panel will be composed of David Pierce, President and CEO of the American Association of Community Colleges, Carolyn Hock, Director of Workforce Policy for the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development in the Division of Regional Development, Patricia McNeil, Assistant Secretary of Education, and Judy Sunley, Assistant Director in the Directorate for Education and Human Resources at the National Science Foundation.
