Exploring the Universe with Planetarium Audiences: Bishop
Museum, in Honolulu, Hawaii is collaborating with the array of international
research agencies atop Mauna Kea to bring the excitement of modern round
based astronomy to planetarium audiences around the world. The Explorers
is already showing in over 170 planetariums in the U.S., and international
distribution is beginning. Artwork and video from U.S., Japanese, French,
and Chilean sources play a role in illustrating the truly international nature
of this field. Interactive programs allow audience members to build a
multiple element mirror, find latitude, and other activities that result in
greater understanding of this "Big Science" endeavor.
