David Tseng
David Tseng serves as Staff Director and Senior Policy Advisor for the National Economic Council (NEC) at the White House. Prior to joining the NEC, he served as Chief Assistant Treasurer for the City and County of San Francisco from 1998-2000, and as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Pension and Welfare Benefits at the U.S. Department of Labor from 1993-1998. At the NEC, Mr. Tseng oversees day-to-day management and administration issues for Gene Sperling, President Clinton's chief economic advisor; coordinates and liaises on behalf of the NEC with other White House offices; and prepares NEC's daily and weekly reports to the President and White House senior staff. Mr. Tseng also leads the White House Pension Policy Working Group that develops the Clinton Administration's policies and initiatives relating to the private sector pension system. Before entering public service, Mr. Tseng practiced law with the firm of Loeb and Loeb in Los Angeles, California where he chaired the employee benefits practice and specialized in the plan and design of private sector pension plans. Mr. Tseng is a graduate of UCLA School of Law and received his undergraduate degree with honors in English Literature from Columbia University in New York City.
