Statement by the Press Secretary
Washington, DC -- President Clinton and First Lady Hillary RodhamClinton will join Vice President and Mrs. Gore at the Family Re-Union 7Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, on Monday, June 22, 1998. The FamilyRe-Union Conference is an annual family conference moderated by the VicePresident and Mrs. Gore on policy issues of major concern to families andchildren. The topic of this year's conference is family-centered healthcare.
The conference is co-sponsored by Bill Purcell, Executive Director ofthe Child and Family Policy Center at Vanderbilt University, and Dr. MarthaFarrell Erickson, Director of the Children, Youth & Family Consortium ofthe University of Minnesota.
During the Conference, the President and Mrs. Clinton will participatewith the Vice President and Mrs. Gore in a national conversation on howfamilies can be more involved in the health care process. Otherparticipants will include families, health care providers, academics,experts in family-centered health care, and non-profit and communityorganizations seeking ways to involve the family more fully in thedecisions that impact their health.
