PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES FRANK PEARL AND MARK WEINER TO
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE JOHN F. KENNEDY CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS
President Clinton today announced his intent to appoint Frank H.
Pearl and Mark S. Weiner to the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy
Center for the Performing Arts.
Mr. Frank H. Pearl, of Washington, D.C., is Chairman and CEO of
Perseus, and the Founder and Chairman of both Rappahannock Investment
Company and Counterpoint Press. Mr. Pearl also serves as Chairman of the
Jennie Zoline Foundation, a private charitable foundation he established in
1987 to that operates exclusively for scientific, literary, educational
and other charitable purposes. He also is a member of the Trustees Council
of the National Gallery of Art, and the Madison Council of the Library of
Congress.
Mr. Mark S. Weiner, of East Greenwich, Rhode Island, is the founder
and President of Financial Innovations, Inc., one of the largest political
mass-marketing firms, operating in the United States and abroad. He also
has been active in a number of political campaigns over the past 25 years,
and he served on President Carter?s White House staff from 1977 to 1978.
Mr. Weiner also has served as Chairman of the Providence, Rhode Island
Zoning Board of Review, the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher
Education, and the Rhode Island Convention Center. He currently is
treasurer of the Providence Civic Center Authority. Mr. Weiner has
received a number of awards and honors for his charitable work.
The Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing
Arts is responsible for the maintenance and administration of the Kennedy
Center. The Board is charged with four programmatic mandates: presentation
of classical and contemporary music, opera, dance and poetry; presentation
of lectures and other programs; development of programs for children, youth
and the elderly; and, provision of facilities for civic activities.
