I'd like to express my profound gratitude to Katie McGinty as shesteps down as Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality.
For 10 years, since her very first days on my Senate staff, I'vemarveled at Katie's remarkable blend of passion and pragmatism, idealismand political acumen. She has steered this Administration through someextraordinarily complex and contentious issues, working hard to buildconsensus in our country and making sure always that the environment cameout on top. President Clinton and I have benefited greatly from herinsight, energy, and dedication.
Through her tireless efforts, Katie has helped preserve the richnessand wonder of this earth so we can pass it on to future generations healthyand whole. I know this spirit will guide her always. And as she leaves usfor new horizons, I wish her the best.
