"Our idea of an item to represent America at the end of the 20th century for the National Time Capsule is a picture of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a Drum Major for peace. This would reflect our goal of peace and brotherhood for this country. This country has seen tremendous change from the image of a melting pot to a salad bowl, where each culture is appreciated. Dr. King’s image would indicate rights for all Americans with the underlining focus on peace."
