Mr. White’s class submitted four things:
A student-made photo album of the Northport High School Students for 60000 Nicaragua Project. This project provides humanitarian relief to Nicaraguans while helping student to understand more about the world. Over the years, Northport students and New York teachers have traveled to Nicaragua to help build playgrounds, build schools and deliver educational and medical supplies.

A brochure from the student-run project, Students for 60000.

Some student "Nicaragua" writings published by Georgetown Law School’s Journal on Fighting Poverty, Spring 1997.

Lyrics to a song written by teacher Joe Burton and dedicated to the student club entitled "This is Our Time." Lyrics follow.

This is Our Time

How can it be?
One thousand years
And still our hearts
Have room for no one

Through all the years
And all the cheers
This New Year’s Eve
Is just a moment

This is our time
This is our place
We stand for all
The worn and hungry.

A child that sleeps
In empty hallways
Can’t help but dream
Of better places

I promise this:
I pledge my life
To make a home
For all the homeless.

This is our time
This is our place
We stand for all
The worn and hungry.

This New Year’s Day
Brings a new morn
To those who dream
And dare to question.
