The First Lady's Trip to the Southwest

In the heart of one of Albuquerque's oldest Hispanic neighborhoods, the First Lady visited the Southwest Pieta, a large, multi-colored fiberglass outdoor sculpture by Luis Jimenez personifying the Mexican mythic couple of Ixtaccihuatl and Popcateptl. Mrs. Clinton discussed the importance of preserving outdoor sculptures in this and other communities. (5/21/99).
