On December 1, 2000, President Clinton wrote President-elect Aristide to express his hopes and concerns with regard to the evolution of democracy in Haiti as President-elect Aristide prepares to return to office. President Clinton underscored his personal commitment to a better future for Haiti and better relations between our two countries, stressing the importance of building an inclusive society dedicated to the goals of justice and the rule of law. 30-30-30
