PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES JOHN FOSTER AS A MEMBER OF
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE WOODROW WILSON INTERNATIONAL CENTER FOR
SCHOLARS
President Clinton today announced his intent to appoint John H.
Foster to serve as a member of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for
Scholars.
Mr. Foster, of Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, is founder and managing partner
of Foster Management Company, an investment advisory firm. Mr. Foster was
founder and Chairman of the board of NovaCare, Inc. He is a former member
of the board and of the executive committee of Avon, Inc., a board member
of Corning Inc., and the New York International Festival of the Arts. He
serves as a trustee of the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. He is
on the council of the Woodrow Wilson Center and on the Board of Overseers
for The Amos Tuck School of Administration at Dartmouth College. Mr.
Foster also serves on the Dean?s Council of the Harvard School of Public
Health. In 1995, he established the John H. Foster Professorship of Health
Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health. In 1997, he
established the John H. Foster Center for Private Equity at the Amos Tuck
School of Administration at Dartmouth College. Mr. Foster received a B.A.
from Williams College and an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School.
The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is established
within the Smithsonian Institution. The Center fosters scholarship and
dialogue in the humanities and social sciences by bringing Fellows to
Washington, encouraging discourse, and publishing the results of their
activities.
