SEGAL AS A MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL ON DISABILITY President Clinton today announced the recess appointment of Gerald S. Segal to serve as a member of the National Council on Disability. Mr. Segal was nominated on October 26, 2000. Mr. Gerald S. Segal, of Haverford, Pennsylvania, is currently a partner in the law firm of Segal, Wolf, Berk, Gaines & Liss. He is past President of Fight for Sight of Greater Philadelphia. Mr. Segal is a member of several Boards of Directors including Magee Rehabilitation Hospital, Temple University Law School Alumni and the Philadelphia Geriatric Center. He also has been a member of the Mayor?s Commission on People with Disabilities for many years. Mr. Segal is the recipient of numerous awards including the Man of Vision Award of the Fight for Sight of Greater Philadelphia, the 1994 Fund Raising Volunteer of the Year Award from the National Society of Fund Raising Executives and the Founder?s Award of American Friends of Haifa University. He also is the Founder of the Jerry Segal Classic for the Benefit of Magee Rehabilitation Hospital, a charitable golf event whose benefactors are the patients at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital. Mr. Segal received a B.A. from Drexel University and a J.D. from Temple Law School. The National Council on Disability is responsible for promoting the integration, independence and productivity of individuals with disabilities in the community, schools, workplace and all other aspects of American life. In the fulfillment of this mission, the Council evaluates the effectiveness of federal government programs and statutes concerning individuals with disabilities. 30-30-30
