The North Pacific Anadromous Fish Commission is an international body
composed of representatives from the United States, Canada, Japan and the
Russian Federation. The Commission serves as a forum for promoting the
conservation of anadromous stocks and related species, marine mammals and
sea birds in the high seas areas of the North Pacific Ocean. The term
'anadromous' refers to fish that swim upstream to spawn and includes many
species of salmon.
