PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES ANDREW FOIS TO THE
SUPERIOR COURT OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA
The President today announced his intention to nominate Andrew Fois to
the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
Andrew Fois, of Washington, D.C., has been a member of the firm of
Venable, Baetjer, Howard and Civiletti since 1998. Prior to assuming his
current position, Fois was an Assistant Attorney General for the Department
of Justice?s Office of Legislative Affairs (1995-1998). He also served as
an Associate Deputy Attorney General (1994-1995) and Assistant to the
Attorney General (1994) with the Department of Justice. Fois previously
served as Chief Counsel (1992-1994) and Senior Counsel (1989-1992) with the
House of Representatives Subcommittee on Crime and Criminal Justice, and
was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Washington, D.C. (1985-1989). Fois also
worked as a staff assistant for Senator Gary Hart (1985), and was an
Assistant State Attorney in Dade County, Florida (1983-1984). Fois
received his A.B. degree, cum laude, from Georgetown University in 1979,
and his J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1983.
