PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES EDWARD KAUFMAN AND ALBERTO J. MORA AS MEMBERS OF
THE BROADCASTING BOARD OF GOVERNORS
President Clinton announced the nomination of Edward Kaufman and
Albert J. Mora as Members of the Broadcasting Board of Governors.
Mr. Edward Kaufman, of Wilmington, Delaware, was appointed to the
Broadcasting Board of Governors in 1995. He is President of Public
Strategies; a political and management consulting firm. Since 1991, Mr.
Kaufman has been a Senior Lecturing Fellow at Duke University and The
Sanford Institute of Public Policy. From 1973 to 1994, he served as
Administrative Assistant and Executive Assistant to United States Senator
Joseph R. Biden, Jr. Mr. Kaufman received a B.S.M.E. from Duke University
and a M.B.A. from the Wharton School.
Mr. Alberto J. Mora, of Miami, Florida, was appointed to the
Broadcasting Board of Governors in 1995. He is an attorney with Greenberg
Traurig specializing in international law. Mr. Mora served as General
Counsel for the U.S. Information Agency from 1989 to 1993. In addition, he
is a former Foreign Service Officer with the State Department. Mr. Mora
received a B.A. from Swarthmore College and a J.D. from the University of
Miami School of Law.
The Broadcasting Board of Governors is the successor to the Board of
International Broadcasting. The Board is responsible for policy and
budgetary oversight for all of the entities controlling the Consolidated
International Broadcasting Assets of the United States government. These
entities include Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Voice of America, Radio
and Television Marti and Radio Free Asia.
