PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES MADELYN R. CREEDON AS DEPUTY ADMINISTRATOR FOR
DEFENSE PROGRAMS, NATIONAL NUCLEAR SECURITY ADMINISTRATION AT THE
DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY
The President today announced his intent to nominate Madelyn R.
Creedon as Deputy Administrator for Defense Programs, National Nuclear
Security Administration at the Department of Energy.
Ms. Madelyn R. Creedon, of Indianapolis, Indiana, is currently Counsel
for the Minority Staff of the Senate Committee on Armed Services and is
responsible for the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces. From 1995-1997, she
served as Associate Deputy Secretary of Energy for National Security
Programs. Ms. Creedon was General Counsel for the Defense Base Closure and
Realignment Commission from 1994-1995. From 1990-1994, she was Counsel for
the Majority Staff of the Senate Committee on Armed Services. Previously,
Ms. Creedon spent ten years as a trial attorney and Acting Assistant
General Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel at the Department of
Energy.
Ms. Creedon received a B.A. degree from the University of Evansville
in Evansville, Indiana and a J.D. degree from St. Louis University School
of Law.
The Deputy Administrator for Defense Programs, National Nuclear
Security Administration at the Department of Energy directs the nation?s
nuclear weapons research, development, testing, production, and
surveillance programs. This individual also is responsible for the
management of defense nuclear waste and byproducts and oversees research in
inertial confinement fusion.
