THE WHITE HOUSE Office of the Press Secretary (Hanoi, Vietnam) _______________________________________________________________________ For Immediate Release November 18, 2000 PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES LARRY LYNN BROWN, SR., AS A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE UNITED STATES SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS The President today announced his intent to appoint Larry L. "Butch" Brown, Sr., as a member of the Board of Governors of the United Service Organizations, Inc. Mr. Larry L. Brown, of Natchez, Mississippi, is the President and owner of a wholesale hardwood lumber company with both domestic and international clients. He also owns Riverside Central Services, Inc., and Edinburg Trading Company. Mr. Brown was the Mayor of Natchez, Mississippi from 1992-2000. He received the Governor?s Golden Glove Award, Mississippi Volunteer of the Year Laureate, Inc. Magazine?s 500 Award, and "Outstanding Achievement Award in the 1997 City Livability Awards Program" by the U.S. Conferences of Mayors and Waste Management. Mr. Brown received a B.S. in Management & Marketing from the University of Southern Mississippi. The United Service Organizations Inc., (USO) is a voluntary civilian organization created to serve a variety of needs of the members of the armed forces and their families, and to contribute to the maintenance of military morale. The USO's Board of Governors are responsible for overseeing the staff?s management of the USO's affairs and its property. 30-30-30
