S. 1609 - Next Generation Internet Research Act

The Administration supports Senate passage of S. 1609 and will seek to
improve the bill as it continues through the legislative process. The
improvements include: (1) conforming the authorization levels to those
requested in the President's FY 1999 Budget; and (2) clarifying in section
4(a)(1) that research programs on large scale networking are included as
authorized activities.
