STATEMENT BY VICE PRESIDENT ON PUBLIC SERVICE
RECOGNITION WEEK
Every day of our lives we depend on the work of public employees. We
count on them to enforce laws that guarantee us equal employment opportunities
and healthy working conditions. Their undying efforts have led to increased
research for potential new drugs and expanded exploration of space. They plan
our intricate web of freeways, track our economy and employment rate, protect
our historic treasures and oversee programs that help connect disadvantaged
communities to the world.
Public Service Recognition Week is an
opportunity to show our respect for the hard work of those who in countless
ways help improve and safeguard our country. The vast array of services
provided by the government is an integral part of our lives. We cannot expect
good government without good public employees. I thank all public employees for
the work they do day after day to make our government effective.
