Shopping is the feature in the picturesque souk and at the ultra-modern Dizengoff center. Other sights include the state-of-the-art Diaspora museum, the bustling Canal Market, and the home of the world famous Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra. The city of Jaffa, now a part of Tel Aviv, has an ancient air but nevertheless hosts some of Israels most modern artists. Any visit to Tel Aviv is not complete without a visit to Independence Hall, where David Ben Gurion declared Israels statehood on May 14, 1948.
